Sure! To change what information you're comparing in your collection, simply click on the Edit button next to Collection Information on the My Account & My Collections page. Additional Resources that may be useful during your search.
+ Can I suggest a new feature or college for College Rover?
Yes! Use our
Suggestion Box to tell us what would make College Rover even better.
+ Where do you get your data?
+ If the data can be accessed for free, why are you charging a per month fee?
A couple of points:
- The data the DOE provides has tremendous value. There are over 6,500 colleges listed and almost 3,000 facts PER college. In the DOE College Scorecard, it's not easy to do a head-to-head comparison of the colleges you're interested in—just too many colleges and too many characteristics.
- College Rover's value is that you can easily see the data you want to see, and as a subscriber, save a collection of colleges into Rover, download as a spreadsheet (.XLSX), or import into Google Sheets and Mac Numbers.
+ What year is the College Rover data using?
We are using the Department of Education's data from the 2020/2021 school year. In the summer of 2023, we will also be updating data again to reflect the most recent year's data from the Department of Education.
+ Why are there some links that do not work?
We have spent significant time trying to verify and validate each link. Colleges change their website designs, change links to their site and we do the best we can. Also, colleges sometimes close or merge with other institutions which makes this process both complex and complicated. Every month, we run a check on all links and update them as quickly as possible. Please let us know if you find something that needs to be updated or changed.
+ Does College Rover have all colleges in the DOE database?
No - we ran screening based on numerous factors to lower the number of colleges to concentrate on 4-year non-profit colleges. However, there are a number of community colleges and medical/health related colleges that also offer 4-year degrees. We did our best to include those. If you want a college added, please notify us and we will determine feasibility.
+ Will College Rover be adding more DOE data in the future?
We added majors and degrees in January 2023 and updated the remainder of data in April 2023 with the latest DOE data (for the 2021-2022 academic year). Adding more data is TBD, as we want to be comprehensive but not overwhelming.
+ Is all of the College Rover data from the DOE?
NO! Please look at More Cool Stuff – we have compiled a lot of information: college search websites, rankings, cities, fun things to do, and shopping. We are planning to keep expanding that list. Our goal is to make it easier for students, parents and guardians to access data.
+ What do you mean by "fit"? I am looking for a "perfect college".
There is no such thing as a "perfect college". What may be great for your best friend, may not be a fit for you and vice versa. Look for a college that aligns with your values and will help you achieve your goals.
+ Should I focus on what ranking a college has? And why are there so many ranking systems?
Only you and your parents/guardians can decide if focusing on rankings is a large factor in your decision criteria. Personally, we feel that focusing on rankings leaves out a tremendous number of fantastic colleges that could be a great place to go to college. Every ranking system is based on a set of methodologies that you may or may not agree with. We chose one to use that we feel shows a national ranking (versus regional or type of college) that is the closest to being relatively accurate.
+ Does College Rover have a 24 hour help desk?
Not at this time. Our general support hours are 9 to 5 Central Standard Time USA. We are staffing our help desk with a limited number of people until we establish a larger number of subscribers. We will maintain our help desk here in the USA as we feel it is important to have people who live and know the USA on staff, as the range of questions will be both broad and deep about USA colleges.
+ Does College Rover have colleges outside of the USA?
Our core dataset doesn’t have info about colleges outside of the USA. Within the
Find Majors & Degree Programs search function, there is a limited set of references/data for colleges and universities outside of the USA.
+ Does College Rover have law/medical/dental and other graduate colleges in the USA?
Graduate and professional schools that also offer a 4-year degree are included in Rover’s core dataset and the search, filter, and compare functions can be used. For post 4-year programs (law, medical, dental, and other graduate and professional majors and degree programs), use the
Find Majors & Degree Programs function. The data is limited by what the DOE publishes.
